A new beginning
“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” Closing Time, Semisonic
Today was a new beginning. Yesterday I turned 24, the year began 10 days ago, and I’ve began a new chapter in my life. It was time to put away childish things per se and grow up. One of my goals this year is to be healthier. Rod Ryan says that resolutions should have definite goals so I’m going to outline a few of mine.
1. Get back on Weight Watchers. I truly believe that this is the best way to “diet” because it isn’t dieting. It changes the way you think about food and portion size. One of the reasons for obesity is the gigantic portion sizes we receive from restaurants and from our own cooking.
2. Engage in the online community, SparkPeople. This is just another tool to help me acheive my fitness/health goals. Plus it’s cool to have social community dedicated solely to health.
3. I’d like to be in a size 6 by January 1, 2009. It’s possible, but it’s going to take hard work and dedication to a lifestyle change.
4. Eliminate aspartarme from my diet. It’s just bad for you.
5. Eliminate sodas completely.
6. I want to race in Race for the Cure. I will start training as soon as my foot heals from minor surgery.
7. Remember that I need to take things one day at a time. Set backs aren’t failures, mistakes aren’t failures. If I happen to fall down, I’ll just get back up and move on.
Oh, for my birthday, my mom bought me a KitchenAid Mixer. *squeals with delight*
