There is something to be said of the human race when company property is stolen out of a desk in a locked office. That’s right. My company camera was lifted from my desk. Granted, I had forgotten to lock the cabinet. However, the door was locked at midnight, unlocked at 6, so someone had a key and malicious intent. Such a sad commentary on the human existence.
My ADD is so bad today. I felt all crazy-like. I don’t like days like this.
Back to the human race – the morals of this country are bankrupt. Parents should instill solid beliefs of honesty and integrity in their children. The children shouldn’t be raised by the TV. Barack Obama said that numerous times in his speech on Tuesday night. Another good reason for Texas and Ohio to vote and caucus for him on Tuesday, March 4. Whoever you vote for, get to the polls and engage in the system!

I had the honor and the pleasure to engage in our democratic system by attending the Barack Obama Rally in Houston, TX last night. I have never experienced anything like it before. The atmosphere outside the Toyota Center was electric – we were all there for a cause and that cause is change.
Many people do not believe in the possibility of change. One girl’s comment on the chron.com states, “YOUNG IDIOTS FOR OBAMA!!! Though I’m voting for Clinton, good for you Alexander145, your not with these young idiots that came forward now with their stupidity of “change.” IDIOTAS!!! HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!”
First of all, it is hard to respect someone’s opinion when they cannot spell, use punctuation, or proper grammar. But more to the point, she mocked the idea of change. In my humble opinion, we are at a place where we need change – and Hillary Clinton is not the person for that change because she will not be a change. She has watched George W. the last few years, she has voted with him (and consequently recanted and spoke out against something she voted for), she was a critical part of the Clinton years (even though her health care plan failed) and she has been a political presence over the last few years. She is not change; she’s another pawn in the a losing game.

Barack Obama is not perfect, but he has the ability to inspire change. He just arrived in Washington. He is different, he is true change. One of his biggest pluses in my moderate checklist is he is not a seasoned Washington politician. The main problem in Washington is not Dubya; it’s having the same ‘repeat offenders’ in Congress and the Senate. They will never set term limits on themselves because they have a sweet deal – little work for lifelong pay. Why should they set term limits that would effect change? Psh.
Barack Obama said two things that really inspired me last night:
- 1.) If you are working in America, there is no reason you should be poor.
- 2.) Washington is a place where good ideas go to die.
Mull those things over while I do a little research. I will be researching and reporting on what I perceive to be important about this campaign over the next year. I am but one voice, but for the first time ever, I feel like even people like me have a voice.

“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” Closing Time, Semisonic
Today was a new beginning. Yesterday I turned 24, the year began 10 days ago, and I’ve began a new chapter in my life. It was time to put away childish things per se and grow up. One of my goals this year is to be healthier. Rod Ryan says that resolutions should have definite goals so I’m going to outline a few of mine.
1. Get back on Weight Watchers. I truly believe that this is the best way to “diet” because it isn’t dieting. It changes the way you think about food and portion size. One of the reasons for obesity is the gigantic portion sizes we receive from restaurants and from our own cooking.
2. Engage in the online community, SparkPeople. This is just another tool to help me acheive my fitness/health goals. Plus it’s cool to have social community dedicated solely to health.
3. I’d like to be in a size 6 by January 1, 2009. It’s possible, but it’s going to take hard work and dedication to a lifestyle change.
4. Eliminate aspartarme from my diet. It’s just bad for you.
5. Eliminate sodas completely.
6. I want to race in Race for the Cure. I will start training as soon as my foot heals from minor surgery.
7. Remember that I need to take things one day at a time. Set backs aren’t failures, mistakes aren’t failures. If I happen to fall down, I’ll just get back up and move on.
Oh, for my birthday, my mom bought me a KitchenAid Mixer. *squeals with delight*
